Important Considerations: Food and Other Medications

Take amoxicillin with a full glass of water. Food generally doesn’t affect absorption, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset for some individuals.

Inform your doctor about all medications you’re currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Some medications can interact negatively with amoxicillin. This is particularly true for oral contraceptives, anticoagulants (like warfarin), and certain antibiotics. Your doctor can advise on potential interactions and necessary adjustments to your medication regimen.

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking amoxicillin. Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects, such as nausea and vomiting.

If you experience any unexpected reactions, such as severe rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling, seek immediate medical attention.
